The room is really cool and beautiful

    1. The shower, some minutes of hot water and some minutes of very cold water, in Cuzco is not really good to wait for hot water naked in a corner.

A nicely renovated building in the heart of Cusco's city center. Friendly and helpful staff.

Room lacking basic facilities for a hotel in that category (fridge, hairdryer, working sockets..). Tiny bathroom without proper insulation (actually, a ceiling!).

The people were very friendly. We have stayed at multiple places around Peru, and the people at Unaytambo were by far the friendliest - and it was the least expensive place we stayed. Great location. They let us keep our bags in our room even on a night we were at Machu Picchu and not even staying there!

Complimentary airport pick up. Friendly reception staff who can speak good English (both women), but the guy's English is limited. Rustic feel to the hotel that was built on an Inca site, and has a nice courtyard in the middle. The "superior rooms" are big & spacious, but the "regular rooms" have very small baths/toilets. Good location - next to the Temple of the Sun, near museums & main squares. I did a 1-night cancellation 1 week before & wasn't charged. I borrowed a small towel for my Inca Trail & the hotel allowed it. I left my luggage there & returned only to find my luggage already in my room. Overall, a pleasent stay.

The main entrance is a small lane - not accessible by car. Thus, you'll have to drag/carry your luggage 100 yards to/from the main street; after that, another 15 steps upstairs to the 2nd floor, where the rooms are. No "room service". Toilet seat doesn't remain up in the regular room (ok, if you're a woman). The "regular rooms" have very small shower cubicles/toilets & no window. Overall, I would only recommend the "superior rooms".

Staff was great, the owner was always around. Small hotel right in the middle of the tourist area.

A little noise from traffic, but that's Peru!

Can't say enough about our stay. Always courteous Staff and helpful in everything from restaurants, drivers, Attractions, and handeling the altitude. Wether we needed extra towels, pillows, or help With the Internet , this hotel knows how to accommodate Their guests. I would highly recommend a stay Here while in Cusco and I look forward to my next Stay with them!

The Unaytambo is a great "launching point" for activities in Cusco and the surrounding area. It's an easy walk from the hotel to the Plaza de Armas, but it's also quiet because it faces on to a side alley instead of a major street. Cusco can be a noisy city with plenty of honking, car alarms, etc., but I was blissfully unaware of that at the Unaytambo. The main staff spoke English, which was very helpful, and they were very nice about assisting us with taxis, laundry, etc. The continental breakfast was very nice: lots of options including fresh fruit. And, of course, coca leaf tea was available all the time. I'd stay there again. :)

The fact that it's an old colonial building is one of its charms, but it also means that the rooms can be small. Ours was very compact, and the bathroom was tiny -- it would take some careful positioning to use the toilet if you were over 6ft tall. Also, the floor sloped slightly (once again, old colonial building). But the advantages far outweigh these issues, because you're not likely to spend much time in the room anyway.

Staff were excellent, really helpful and friendly. Looked after our bags while on a 3 day tour in the sacred valley and machu picchu.went out of their way to be helpful, would definately stay there again, great location.

The hotel staff were very welcoming. They arranged for an airport pickup. They were most helpfull when I got altitude sickness in getting the proper medication and access to medical services. The room I had was a large 'married' room (which I occupied alone) with a very comfortable queen size bed and a view overlooking San Martine square. The breakfast was a complete american type breakfast with ample choices of fresh baked goods and fresh pressed juice. I highly recommend this historic hotel which is housed in a 16th century structure.

Front desk staff spoke English and were helpful and pleasant. Beds were clean and comfortable. There was plenty of hot water and there was a heater in the room which we used at night. It went down to the 50's at night in November. They put some food in their fridge for us overnight so we could take it to Maccu Picchu the next day. They provided us an adaptor for wifi which we could get in the room. We had a lot of requests, because my daughter got food poisoning while we were there. They were very good about helping. They gave me some plain rolls for her even though breakfast was over. One receptionist walked me around the corner to the pharmacist, who gave me an immodium product and an antibiotic (cipro. And . They also have a service where a doctor comes to the hotel to evaluate your medical needs. We chose to skip this step and go right to the hospital for hydration. That was a horrible experience and nxt time would just force her to drink the fluids. They helped me rebook our flight back to Lima as we had to miss our original one due to illness. We were able to stay in the same room an additional day. Definitely felt like we were staying with people who cared. They also called good, helpful cab drivers Llama Taxi (Guido helped my daughter down the stairs because she was so weak).

We were in room 209. The shower leaked, so you had to use a towel on the floor to keep the floor from becoming completely wet. Bathroom was tiny with no extra counter space to put your toiletries. One day they unplugged the lights when they cleaned the room. Had to jiggle the plug to coax the lamp to stay on. All of these things were no big deal compared to the positives. We were at another hotel in Lima and the front desk was impersonal and we did not like it as much as this hotel.

Great location. Clean, comfortable, nice breakfast included.

Bathroom on the small side, only a shower stall.

  • Older travelers

Staff was exceptional. Hotel has lots of character and was very charming. Close to everything.

Bathroom in our room was quite small. Don't know if it was the same in other rooms.

  • Group of friends

The building is very beautiful. The staff are friendly and helpful. The location is great. There is free internet access. Breakfast is plentiful and there is a good selection of things to have including fresh eggs made to order. There is a heater in the room and extra blankets.

Our triple room was small and the bathroom was tiny but the showers were hot. The room was cold so you definitely need a heater! We felt the hotel was slightly overpriced considering the size and warmth of the room.

  • Couple
    8.0

The room was big and it was not far from Plaza de las Armas.

We stayed 3 days in a different hotel before we went to a 5 day trekking and finally stayed at Unaytambo. For that first hotel, we paid almost half of the price for the same comfort, similar breakfast and better location (half a block from Plaza de las Armas) that we had at Anaytambo. Conclusion: I wouldn't say you get a good value for the money at this hotel. Also the bathroom was terrible. There is no roof, what means that who is in the bedroom can hear (and smell) everything that is going on inside the toilet. In addition the hot water of the shower keeps coming and going all the time what was very annoying after trying to get warm from at walk around the cold Cusco.

  • Family with children
    8.4

The hotel is very charming and has a great location. Breakfast and service is great! The superior rooms are spacious and have 4 beds, 2 singles and 1 double. I would recommend the upstairs rooms.

Check out at 9 am is early when you arrive at 11 pm from 4 days of Inka Trail. After some negotiation we were allowed to stay until 10 am. Room 101 is situated in a location prone to noise at night. Room 201 shower head is not made for people above 180 cm.
